Either to support, to prop, to hide, to feel comfortable, time of change or change of space… “between” is a word with a lot of usage. Here are my takes on this word…

My son, K, had his friends from school for a visit and a swim in our beach last summer, one of them was a little bit apprehensive going into the water, so her older sister and my son put her in between them and held her hands and slowly guided her until she felt comfortable. They had a lot of fun that day.

On trips, I take pictures of my husband with his counterparts around the world, and he receives warm receptions from them while they put him and my son between themselves for a nice photo-op.
